Mechanical Engineer (Level 2 - 5)

Overview Lockheed Martin Space will be hosting an invitation‑only hiring event in early September in Sunnyvale, CA. This requisition is intended to capture Mechanical Engineering candidates for invitation to the event. Applicants who meet all the basic qualifications and desired skills may be contacted for one of our open roles. The positions are on‑site 100% of the time. Basic Qualifications Experience creating 2D engineering drawings Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 including GD&T and tolerance stack‑up analyses Familiar with manufacturing processes including machining, welding, heat treatment, surface treatment, and assembly documentation Knowledge of mechanical design principles including GD&T Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance, thus U.S. citizenship is required Desired Skills Experience creating 3D designs (CREO or equivalent) Experience with product lifecycle management (EPDM or equivalent) Ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent disciplines (systems engineering, electronics, stress/thermal analysis, configuration management, production, test, quality, etc.) Knowledgeable at a systems level in stress, propulsion, harness design, materials, and electrical design/analysis Experience with flight hardware and ground support equipment design Model‑based definition experience Hands‑on hardware experience Additive manufacturing experience Familiar with design for manufacturability (DFM) Familiarity with basis of estimates (BOEs) Security Clearance This position requires a government security clearance. Top Secret clearance is required and U.S. citizenship is mandatory. Work Schedule On‑site full‑time. Lockheed Martin supports alternate work schedules; the schedule for this position is 9x80 with every other Friday off. Pay Rate and Benefits Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington, and Washington D.C. is $85,500 – $150,765. For other states, the range will reflect the candidate’s final work location. The salary range for major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $98,300 – $170,315. These ranges are general guidelines; the final offer will consider scope of responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions.
