Corporate Financial Controller

Position Overview Location: Chicago, IL The Corporate Controller will lead all aspects of financial operations for Nonni's Bakery, providing strategic financial guidance while ensuring accurate reporting, robust internal controls, and regulatory compliance. This key leadership role partners with senior management to drive business performance and support continued growth. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Management Create and maintain the monthly closing calendar. Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Oversee preparation of financial statements in compliance with GAAP and IFRS. Review and approve general ledger entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and cost allocations. Ensure timely completion of bank reconciliations and resolution of discrepancies. Strengthen accounting processes through collaboration with management. Strategic Financial Planning Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting. Partner with department heads to ensure financial targets are met. Analyze variances between actual results and forecasts. Provide financial analysis to guide strategic decision‑making. Track and analyze industry‑specific KPIs. Tax Management & Compliance Oversee domestic and international tax filings, including federal, state, and provincial returns. Manage sales and use tax returns, property tax returns, and R&D tax credit calculations. Direct the preparation of tax provisions. Develop and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and financial reporting standards. Audit Coordination Lead end‑to‑end audit engagement processes. Serve as primary liaison with external auditors. Participate in audit planning and provide necessary documentation. Address auditor questions regarding accounting policies and internal controls. Cost & Cash Flow Management Analyze and monitor COGS and operational expenses. Implement cost reduction strategies without compromising product quality. Manage cash flow to ensure operational liquidity. Oversee debt management and working capital optimization. Leadership Oversee US and Canadian accounting teams. Recruit, develop, and manage finance professionals. Provide mentorship to enhance team members' technical and professional growth. Foster effective communication and collaboration across departments. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred. 7‑10 years of accounting/finance experience with 5+ years in leadership. Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, tax regulations, and compliance requirements. CPG industry experience required. Food and beverage industry experience strongly preferred. Technical Skills Proficiency in financial software (SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks). Advanced Excel skills. Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
