Role Overview As a Unit Secretary, you play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the nursing station by performing essential clerical and receptionist duties. You support registered nurses, physicians, and the healthcare team in organizing patient activities, maintaining records, and managing the physical environment of the unit. Your work directly contributes to the efficient and compassionate care our patients receive. What You Will Do Transcribe and transmit doctor's orders, coordinating with registered nurses to schedule patient activities and tests. Perform clerical functions, including communication with the healthcare team, answering telephones, and taking messages. Maintain patient records and charts, ensuring accurate documentation. Assist with patient admissions and discharges, ordering supplies, and organizing charts. Support the orientation of new staff to clerical duties within the unit. What You Will Need Required Qualifications Ability to understand and apply CHMC's mission statement in daily tasks. Proficiency in clerical and receptionist duties. Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with patients, visitors, and staff. Willingness to comply with Standard Precautions and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in a healthcare setting. Familiarity with medical terminology and electronic health records.
