Accounting Specialist

Location: Livermore, CA (On-Site)

Schedule: Approximately 30 hours per week

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire

Compensation: $26-$29/hour

Are you an accounting professional who enjoys wearing multiple hats and being a key contributor to a small, collaborative team? We are partnering with a well-established East Bay organization seeking a detail-oriented Accounting & Purchasing Specialist to support day-to-day financial operations, vendor management, and procurement activities.

This role offers a flexible daytime schedule and is ideal for someone who enjoys a stable, hands-on position with a variety of responsibilities across both accounting and purchasing functions.

What You'll Be Doing

Accounting Operations

• Process accounts payable transactions and prepare vendor payments
• Verify invoices, research discrepancies, and coordinate issue resolution with vendors
• Record and apply incoming customer payments
• Assist with accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, account follow-up, and reconciliations
• Support month-end and year-end close processes
• Maintain organized financial records and documentation
• Assist with 1099 preparation and other routine business compliance filings
• Ensure accounting activities align with established GAAP principles

Purchasing & Vendor Support

• Coordinate procurement of office, production, and operational supplies
• Generate and manage purchase orders
• Monitor inventory levels and replenish supplies as needed
• Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, and delivery schedules
• Research cost-saving opportunities and vendor alternatives
• Resolve shipping, receiving, and order-related issues

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, purchasing, procurement, or a related role
• Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred
• Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals, including general ledger activity and financial reporting
• Experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• ERP system experience is helpful but not required
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently
• Excellent communication skills and a customer-service-oriented approach

Schedule

• Flexible start time between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM
• Six-hour workday
• 100% on-site in Livermore
