Position Summary The Adjunct Nursing Faculty, School of Nursing position is a part-time position, responsible to provide excellence in teaching and/or other assigned duties consistent with the mission, philosophy, and program outcomes of the School of Nursing (SON). The responsibilities of the adjunct faculty member are dependent on assignments, which include, but are not limited to coordination of individual courses, clinical and/or laboratory positions, and supportive positions of the School of Nursing. Participation in program and curricular planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvements is strongly recommended. Nursing Psychology - This is an onsite, in-person position in Minnesota. Key Responsibilities A nursing adjunct faculty member has three different opportunities for service within the SON program. 1. Course Coordinator position (Master’s Degree Required): Lead and manage assigned course, including didactic instruction and oversight of all related clinical experiences. Provide direct clinical supervision as needed to support student learning and development. Ensure achievement of course and clinical outcomes through effective planning, teaching, and evaluation. 2. Clinical and/or Lab position (Master’s Degree Required): Lead in the supervision of students’ hands‑on care within the assigned setting 3. Supportive role: Support operational functions of the School of Nursing (SON) including tutorial services, compliance screening, accreditation preparation, and lab coordination. Contribute to program quality and readiness with minimal direct student interaction, focusing on behind-the-scenes responsibilities that enhance student success and SON effectiveness. All Positions: Support the mission and philosophy of the University and School of Nursing (SON) by fostering a learning environment and serving as a role model for students. Ensure academic and clinical excellence through student supervision, evaluation, and orientation in clinical/lab settings, using evidence-based teaching practices. Participate in program evaluation and improvement by following the SON’s Systematic and Self‑Evaluation Plans and maintaining accurate teaching records. Contribute to governance and curriculum development by serving on SON committees as requested. Maintain communication and uphold standards by keeping the Chief Nurse Administrator informed and adhering to University contracts with clinical agencies. Perform other duties as requested or assigned. Qualifications Required: Master’s Degree in Nursing from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university, or the equivalent if degree is from a foreign country. Eligibility for a Registered Nurse license in the state of Minnesota and possession of an unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the state of Minnesota upon assumption of duties Teaching excellence and a commitment to serving as a mentor for students Christian character; adhering to professional standards of nursing and upholding Minnesota Nurse Practice Act Maintain a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, reflect His character in all interactions, and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, Doctrinal Statement and Declaration of Christian Community Nice to have: Minimum of two years of RN experience along with demonstrated clinical expertise Additional Requirements for Nursing Informatics Nursing Informatics specialization with expertise in nursing informatics, electronic health records, and clinical documentation systems Experienced in healthcare technology, data-informed quality improvement, and regulatory compliance Familiarity with emerging applications of artificial intelligence in healthcare and/or nursing education Key Skills Independent & Teamwork: Capable of working both independently and collaboratively, with minimal supervision. Confidentiality: Maintains discretion and handles sensitive information appropriately. Organizational Skills: Strong time management and problem‑solving abilities; able to prioritize and meet deadlines with attention to detail. Technical Proficiency: Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and related software. Written & Verbal Communication: Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills. Flexibility: Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Background Check: Must pass initial and ongoing background checks as a condition of employment.
