Project Engineer - Municipal Water / Wastewater

Project EngineerWe're looking for a Project Engineer who can lead municipal water and wastewater projects from planning through construction while building strong client relationships along the way. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both the technical side of infrastructure and the responsibility of delivering projects on time and on budget. At PEC, you'll work directly with cities, utilities, and public agencies to improve essential infrastructure—water distribution, wastewater collection, and treatment systems that support growing communities. We are excited for you to apply!Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for project completion in accordance with quality assurance policies, standards and project specificationsPrepare and review engineering plans and drawingsAssist in the preparation of project proposals, cost estimates, and feasibility studiesPerforms and/or directs engineering design, coordination with other design staff for construction document and specification production in compliance with building codes, construction administration, and development of reports/studiesServes as an advisor to the Project Manager, identifying and communicating any potential risk to the project in a timely fashionPerforms and/or directs design computations by hand and by computer softwareUses experience, education, and judgement to make informed decisions. Retains knowledge and builds on previous experiences to increase capabilities in breadth and complexityOrganizes multiple projects and tasks and completes them in a timely manner, on schedule, and per PEC Standards. Oversees tasks that have been delegated to other engineers and support staffEffectively communicates and coordinates with the Design Team to complete design tasks on numerous projectsPerform quality control reviews at appropriate milestonesMentors, trains and develops less experienced staffParticipates in business development activities to include developing and maintaining relationships with clientsOther projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretionSpecial Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Ability to work independently and with others, with minimal supervision.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in preparing engineering plans, reports, and documentationFamiliarity with local regulations, permitting processes, and design standardsExcellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Knowledge and skill in determining project requirements, setting project scope of work, determining design budgets, determining preliminary construction budgets, and review of contracts.Strong work ethicExperience with computer aided drafting and modeling using industry accepted software.Experience with codes and regulations, interpreting plans, and design discipline specific project components.Education and Experience:Minimum of a B.S. Duties involved require moving materials that weigh up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines.
