Intervention Specialist (K-12) Mild / Moderate and/or Moderate / Intensive

The Brunswick City School District is seeking an Intervention Specialist for Kidder Elementary. The Intervention Specialist will provide specialized, rigorous instruction tailored to the unique needs of students with disabilities, in strict alignment with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) which may include modified curriculum.

Qualifications include holding or being eligible for a valid Ohio Educator License issued by the State Board of Education of Ohio, with appropriate subject area and grade-level endorsements for the assignment. The candidate must demonstrate strict adherence to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators and maintain high ethical standards. They should also possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening, creative problem-solving, collaborative teamwork, and effective time management. Satisfactory completion of all required statutory pre-employment screenings, including criminal background checks (BCI/FBI) as mandated by Ohio law, is also required.

The Intervention Specialist will report to Building Administrators and will be responsible for designing and delivering specialized instruction, formulating and implementing legally compliant IEPs, utilizing the general education curriculum as an instructional foundation, working alongside general education teachers and specialized therapists, guiding general education colleagues in understanding disability categories, collaborating with general education partners to adapt core curricular materials, maintaining regular communication with parents, guardians, and professional staff, helping special education students assess their own abilities, participating actively as a core member of the Student Concerns Team, coordinating with external agencies and alternative settings, maintaining accurate student records, and participating regularly in professional development.

Each staff member shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance and abuse of any prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout their employment in the District. Each staff member shall serve as a role model for students in responsible citizenship and personal conduct. Staff members maintain a professional responsibility to help instill ethical principles and core civic values in students through their daily instruction and actions.

Terms of employment are 184 days; salary as per Negotiated Agreement.
