Overview
Monarch is hiring an experienced Carpenter to join our crew building quality homes, remodels, and light-commercial projects across Northwest Indiana. This role is for a true tradesperson: someone who knows framing inside and out, can lay out and build walls, floors, and roof systems from plans, and takes pride in work that's square, plumb, and built to last. You'll work independently on carpentry tasks, help mentor newer crew members, and work closely with our Crew Lead and Site Supervisor to keep projects moving.

Responsibilities

• Frame walls, floors, and roof systems, including layout, plating, headers, blocking, rafters, and truss installation
• Install sheathing, subfloors, and structural components to spec
• Read and interpret framing plans and layouts; build accurate cut lists and measure and cut lumber with precision
• Install windows, exterior doors, and rough openings; perform finish carpentry and trim work as projects require
• Handle remodel carpentry, including demo, structural repairs, and tying new framing into existing structures
• Work independently on assigned carpentry tasks and guide newer carpenters and laborers on site
• Support concrete/flatwork, site prep, and material handling when needed
• Keep the job site clean, organized, and up to safety standards
• Spot and flag structural, layout, or safety issues before they become problems

Requirements

• 4+ years of hands-on carpentry experience, with strong rough framing skills (walls, floors, roof systems, sheathing)
• Able to read plans and layouts and work accurately from measurements
• Working knowledge of framing math (square, level, plumb, rafter and stair layout)
• Own a full set of carpentry hand and power tools (framing hammer, tape, circular saw, cordless drill/driver, levels, speed square, chalk line, etc.)
• Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record
• Pass a background check and drug screening
• Able to lift 50+ lbs, work on ladders and roofs, and handle full days outdoors in all weather
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and a team-first attitude

• Remodel or fix-flip experience
• Experience leading or training helpers
