Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist

Description:
Performs and interprets designated laboratory procedures.
Performs serologic, chemical, bacteriologic, immunohematologic, and microscopic procedures and related duties to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Performs accurate and appropriate testing on laboratory specimens according to established laboratory protocols and procedures.
Reports results in a timely manner.
Troubleshoots instruments, equipment, reagents, and patient specimen issues using standard laboratory techniques.
Performs laboratory quality control, including reporting discrepancies and troubleshooting according to established procedures.
Takes appropriate action to ensure quality results and products are provided.
Performs maintenance and calibrations on instruments and equipment to meet quality requirements.
Conducts verification tests on new products, instruments, and procedures, including comparisons and statistical analysis as required.
Performs quality audit data collection, technical policy and procedure development, and inspection assistance under the direction of laboratory management.
Maintains workflow in the clinical laboratory by ensuring proficiency in testing and management of work areas and supply inventory.
Assists in training and orientation of new associates.
Promotes the mission, vision, and values, and abides by service behavior standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
