Attending Physician - Wellness & Weight Management Health System Clinician

Overview Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is recruiting a part‑time or full‑time, non‑tenure‑eligible Health System Clinician for the Wellness and Weight Management program within the Division of Advanced General Pediatrics and Primary Care at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. The clinician will provide outpatient care for children and adolescents (ages 2‑19) with obesity and related cardio‑renal‑metabolic complications at the new Austin HOPE Center and potentially other locations within the hospital. Responsibilities Conduct thorough examinations of children to assess physical and mental development. Diagnose illnesses and develop treatment plans based on evidence‑informed clinical knowledge. Prescribe medications, lab tests, and provide detailed administration instructions. Screen for and manage mental health issues in pediatric patients. Consult with pediatric partners and nursing staff to determine best practices. Treat injuries and refer to specialists when necessary (e.g., surgeons, ophthalmologists, orthopedists). Advise parents on diet, exercise, and disease prevention, emphasizing early detection. Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date medical records of all health episodes. Serve as an advocate for patients, families, and staff. Stay current on pediatric advancements by attending conferences and seminars. Qualifications Board certified in Pediatrics or Internal Medicine‑Pediatrics. Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine with a pediatrics specialization. Valid Illinois medical license; Board eligibility or certification required. Clinical experience in weight management within primary care or related subspecialties (Endocrinology, Cardiology, Gastroenterology). Excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated passion for pediatric care. Preferred: Board certification in Obesity Medicine or completion of an obesity medicine fellowship. Eligible for institutional support to obtain any pending certifications. Additional Requirements The clinician must obtain medical staff membership and privileges at Lurie Children’s, complete credentialing with managed care organizations, and satisfy all Human Resources employment processes, including proof of lawful work status, background check, health screening, and professional references if requested.
