Role Overview The Cytologist performs complex technical tasks in processing and screening cytologic specimens to detect cancer or other pathological conditions, ensuring accurate and efficient testing. Key responsibilities include screening clinical slide specimens, marking abnormalities, rendering diagnoses, and selecting cases for review with a pathologist. They also perform Quality Control and Quality Assurance procedures to maintain compliance with regulations, evaluate specimen acceptability, and participate in the rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) of Fine Needle Aspirations using tele-pathology systems. Qualifications & Skills Certification as a Cytologist (CT) within one year - ASCP Certificate of Completion or Bachelor's Degree in Cytotechnology Knowledge of specimen processing techniques and departmental protocols Ability to perform quality control procedures and evaluate specimen acceptability Proficiency in rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) and tele-pathology systems Key Duties Screen and analyze cytologic slides for evidence of disease Mark abnormalities and render diagnostic decisions Participate in quality assurance and control processes Evaluate specimen acceptability and ensure compliance with standards Assist in the collection, processing, and immediate evaluation of FNA samples #J-18808-Ljbffr AccessHealth
