Specialist Paralegal

We are seeking a highly experienced Specialist Paralegal to provide advanced-level support in ITC and IP litigation matters. This role requires deep subject-matter expertise, extensive trial experience, and the ability to independently manage complex litigation tasks under attorney supervision.

The Specialist Paralegal will apply advanced knowledge of legal procedures, court rules, and agency practices to deliver efficient, high-quality legal support while meeting firm billing expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform work in an efficient and cost-effective manner to support client fee recovery
• Meet billable hours target of 1,725 hours annually (unless otherwise specified)
• Coordinate, organize, prepare, and interpret complex legal documents related to IP matters
• Build and maintain case databases, document repositories, and organized litigation files
• Prepare and file documents with courts and agencies, including the International Trade Commission (ITC)
• Coordinate document productions and conduct searches in e-discovery platforms such as Relativity
• Assist attorneys with deposition preparation, including exhibits and witness materials
• Conduct factual and legal research using internal and external databases
• Support trial preparation, attend trial, and provide in-court/agency hearing support
• Coordinate trial logistics, including travel and remote set-up
• Prepare motions in limine, jury instructions, verdict forms, and other pleadings
• Prepare witness lists, exhibit lists, and trial binders
• Partner with internal departments and outside vendors to streamline processes
• Direct work and train junior team members
• Track time and manage expense reporting in compliance with firm policies
• Handle additional litigation-related projects as assigned
• Travel and work overtime as required

Required Skills & Proficiencies

Litigation & IP Expertise

• Extensive ITC experience (required)
• Advanced knowledge of IP litigation procedures and terminology
• Strong understanding of court and agency filing processes
• Experience with arbitration and trial proceedings

Technical & Software Proficiency

• Expert proficiency in:
  • Motions in limine, jury instructions, verdict forms
  • Witness lists, exhibits, trial binders
  • Transcript management tools (LiveNote)
• Advanced to Expert proficiency in:
  • MS Word (document editing & comparison)
  • MS Excel (spreadsheets/databases)
  • MS PowerPoint (presentations)
  • MS Outlook
  • Web-based conference and collaboration tools
• Advanced proficiency in:
  • Relativity (e-discovery)
  • Lexis Nexis / Westlaw
  • PACER
  • EDIS
  • USPTO website

Operational Knowledge

• Expert knowledge of:
  • Legal billing processes
  • Timekeeping systems
  • Litigation practice procedures

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of Litigation Paralegal experience (required)
• Minimum 7 years of IP Litigation experience (required)
• Extensive ITC trial experience (required)
• Arbitration and trial experience (required)
• Appellate practice experience (preferred)
• Bachelor's Degree (required)
