Job Title

Surgical Technologist – Surgical Services

Location

Rochester, NY | Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Evening Shift | 4x10-Hour Shifts | 13:00–23:30

Key Responsibilities

• Scrub and assist across a broad range of surgical service lines including general surgery, vascular, ENT, gynecology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, urology, thoracic, colorectal, and plastic/reconstructive procedures
• Support laparoscopic, robotic (Da Vinci Xi), and open surgical cases with proficiency in aseptic technique and instrument handling
• Perform proper specimen handling and labeling, sharps safety protocols, and Universal Protocol (Time Out) procedures
• Maintain knowledge of decontamination and sterilization processes and indicators throughout all phases of the surgical case
• Participate in on-call responsibilities — expected 6 call shifts per 8-week block, including weekends and holidays
• Float across service lines as needed and complete pre-start facility modules prior to first day

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required (exception: candidates who worked as a surgical tech in NY prior to 2015 may be considered)
• Active New York State license required and must be in hand at time of submission
• Minimum of 3 years of surgical technologist experience; experience across multiple service lines strongly preferred
• Epic EMR experience is a hard requirement
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience scrubbing robotic cases, including Da Vinci Xi Surgical System and colorectal robotic procedures
• Familiarity with complex vascular cases such as Aortic Aneurysm repair, Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR), and Carotid Endarterectomy
• Lead or charge/management experience in a surgical services setting
• Experience with neurosurgical procedures including craniotomy, VP shunt insertion, and spinal fusion techniques (XLIF, anterior/posterior cervical fusion)
