• 1-3+ years of recent customer service, order management, order processing, sales support, account support, inside sales support, or related experience.

• Experience within industrial supply, electrical supply, utility, manufacturing, distribution, construction materials, MRO, or another product-based B2B environment is highly preferred.

• Previous experience entering, processing, and tracking customer orders from initial request through delivery.

• Experience working with SKUs, part numbers, inventory, product availability, customer pricing, quotes, purchase orders, or backorders is strongly preferred.

HS Diploma or GED minimum required.

This is a fully on-site position in Chicago, IL 60623. Hours are 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional additional hours during higher-volume periods.

Candidates should have reliable transportation, as the location may be more difficult to access using public transportation.

Customer Service Representative

This position is ideal for someone who has experience supporting customers in a product-driven, distribution, manufacturing, industrial supply, electrical supply, utility, or similar environment. The Customer Service Representative will serve as a key point of contact for customers while managing orders, preparing quotes, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring customers receive accurate and timely updates.

This is more than a traditional call center customer service position. You'll take ownership of customer orders from initial request through delivery, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with multiple departments to keep everything moving.

What You'll Be Doing

• Serve as a primary point of contact for customers regarding orders, product availability, pricing, and delivery updates.

• Enter, process, track, and update customer orders accurately and efficiently.

• Prepare customer quotes based on product availability and specific customer requirements.

• Monitor open orders and proactively follow up on backorders, delays, and upcoming delivery dates.

• Communicate with customers by phone and email to provide timely order updates and address questions.

• Work directly with vendors to confirm product availability and coordinate special or time-sensitive orders.

• Identify alternative product solutions when requested items are unavailable or discontinued.

• Research and resolve order discrepancies involving shortages, damaged products, incorrect shipments, pricing, or invoicing.

• Partner with sales, operations, finance, vendors, and other internal teams to resolve customer needs.

• Maintain accurate customer and order documentation within internal systems.

• Take ownership of customer requests and follow issues through resolution.

• Assist with supporting and training team members on order processing procedures and systems as needed.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.44/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
