Dispatcher

Dispatcher Position

The Dispatcher is responsible for supporting daily transportation operations by coordinating drivers, managing routes, and ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant service. This role requires strong communication skills, logistical understanding, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure daily compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
• Manage outbound shipments and oversee timely, accurate dispatch activities.
• Supervise and support a team of CDL drivers to ensure high performance and customer satisfaction.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and internal teams to ensure on-time deliveries and resolve service issues.
• Assist with customer billing and related documentation.
• Monitor and evaluate driver performance and provide coaching as needed.
• Schedule maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime and maintain equipment readiness.
• Plan, coordinate, and optimize delivery routes for maximum efficiency and productivity.
• Handle and resolve customer complaints professionally and efficiently.
• Participate in the recruitment and interview process for driver and helper roles.
• Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, customer interactions, equipment status, and other operational data.
• Conduct or support regular training sessions on safety, compliance, and operational procedures.
• Assist the Transportation Manager with administrative tasks, reporting, and other responsibilities as needed.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Familiarity with dispatching systems, routing software, and transportation logistics.
• Previous experience leading or managing CDL drivers.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
• Proficiency in MS Office and accurate data entry skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining professionalism.

Education and Experience

• Proven experience as a dispatcher or similar role in the transportation or logistics industry.
• Experience in DOT-regulated environments preferred.
