Bloom Therapy Center is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and collaborative Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our growing pediatric therapy team.

We are looking for a COTA who enjoys working with children and families and is passionate about helping children develop the skills they need to participate more successfully in everyday activities at home, school, and in the community.

At Bloom Therapy Center, our OT, PT, and Speech Therapy providers work together to provide comprehensive, child-centered care. The ideal candidate will enjoy a team-based environment and be comfortable providing engaging, play-based therapy to children with a variety of developmental and functional needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide occupational therapy treatment under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
• Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising OT.
• Provide engaging, play-based interventions targeting functional skills and participation.
• Address areas including:
• • Fine motor skills
  • Visual motor and visual perceptual skills
  • Handwriting and school-related skills
  • Activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Self-care skills
  • Sensory processing and regulation
  • Bilateral coordination
  • Motor planning and coordination
  • Strength and endurance
  • Functional play skills
  • Emotional regulation and coping skills
• Modify activities and therapeutic approaches based on the child's individual needs and responses.
• Collaborate with the supervising OT regarding patient progress, treatment strategies, and modifications to the plan of care.
• Communicate with parents and caregivers regarding treatment activities and strategies to support carryover at home.
• Collaborate with PT and Speech Therapy providers as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Complete daily treatment documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Assist with progress monitoring and provide information to the supervising OT for reassessments and progress reports.
• Maintain a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for children and families.
• Follow professional standards, ethical guidelines, clinic policies, and payer requirements.

Qualifications

• Current Louisiana COTA license in good standing.
• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Current NBCOT certification preferred/required as applicable.
• Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain one.
• Pediatric experience preferred, but motivated new graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with OT, PT, Speech Therapy, and other team members.
• Dependable, professional, flexible, and enthusiastic.
• A genuine interest in working with children and families.
