Senior Database Engineer II

Abbott seeks a Senior Database Engineer II for its Infectious Disease unit in San Diego to design and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud-based analytics platforms. The role involves leading data platform implementation, establishing engineering standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise data solutions supporting diagnostics and health management applications.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory
- Lead design and implementation of modern data platforms including Databricks and Synapse Analytics
- Design and implement conceptual, logical, and physical data models for cloud environments
- Provide technical leadership for system integration testing and multi-tenant database architectures
- Develop data engineering standards, conduct code reviews, and mentor team members
Requirements
- 7+ years software development experience with database design
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
- Medical device industry product delivery experience
- Azure data pipeline implementation and cloud PaaS technologies
- Proficiency in Python and T-SQL programming
- RDBMS and NoSQL database expertise
- Data warehouse design and normalization skills
Compensation: $100,000.00 – $200,000.00 base
