Seasonal Custodian

Union County Facilities Department Seasonal CustodianWe are hiring summer/seasonal custodians to support the Union County Facilities Department. Hours may be part-time or full-time, depending on the candidate's availability, and will be discussed during the interview. Under immediate supervision, completes and performs a variety of custodial, maintenance, and repair duties. May work alone or as part of a team. The focus of this position is cleaning of the county grounds and buildings.Completion of secondary education or equivalent (high school diploma or GED); experience in commercial cleaning and maintenance experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must be trustworthy, dependable, and reliable. The chosen candidates must be capable of passing a comprehensive pre-employment background investigation. This is a non-exempt, hourly position that is eligible for overtime.Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license and maintain insurability under the County's vehicle insurance policy. The following are examples only and are not intended to be all inclusive: Facilities tools and equipment: commonly used custodian equipment; vacuum cleaner, floor machine, and other standard custodial equipment, motor vehicle.Inherently hazardous or physically demanding working conditions: ascends and/or descends stairs, is exposed to environmental conditions which may result in injury from fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and/or poorly ventilated work areas; is exposed to possible injury from hazardous gases, chemicals, flammables, or air contaminants; is exposed to possible injury due to unclean or unsanitary conditions; is exposed to possible injury as a result of electrical shock; is exposed to possible injury as a result of working with moving mechanical parts of equipment or machines; works in or around crowds; has contact with potentially violent or emotionally distraught persons; has exposure to hazardous driving conditions; works second shift, third shift, irregular hours. Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered medium work.Cleans assigned area of County facility and grounds as needed (e.g., cleans, sanitizes, and stocks restrooms with paper products and supplies; empties waste baskets and disposes of trash; vacuums, dusts, washes, and sweeps to keep offices, halls, and stairs clean; buffs floors with high-speed buffer, washes windows and baseboards; cleans refrigerators out periodically; performs set-up/tear-down for events); properly secures County facilities (unlocks and locks buildings and turns lights off and on, as needed); gathers and disposes of trash; vacuums and cleans County vehicles; maintains required licensures and certification, if any; meets all job safety requirements and all applicable safety standards that pertain to essential functions; demonstrates regular and predictable attendance; performs other related duties as assigned.Knowledge of County, Department, and Division goals and objectives; County, Department, and Division policies and procedures; personnel rules and regulations; workplace safety practices and procedures; grounds maintenance and repair; custodial practices and procedures. Skill in cleaning equipment and tools operation.
