Aircraft Mechanic II (Sheetmetal Specialty - MWO) CBA Fort Hood TXThe Aircraft Mechanic 2 (Sheetmetal/Structures UH-60, AH-64, CH-47) Repairs and replaces aircraft structural components to include stingers, longerons, bulkheads, beams and aircraft skin according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures.May be required to perform any AM1 task. Oversees: Repairs, fabrication, modification and installation of structural parts, forming blocks, and shaping metal using stretching, shrinking, and other metal forming techniques. Mixing and applying fiberglass materials. Balancing rotary-wing aircraft blades. Making emergency and permanent repairs to transparent plastic windows and enclosures. Using common measuring tools, precision measuring gages, and alignment fixtures to perform structural repairs. Mixing and applying primers and paints to aircraft surfaces. Applying corrosion control treatment to aircraft metals. Aircraft technicians and mechanics on various tasks. Performs checks; carry out inspections and removal of components. Comprehends technical manuals, blueprints, and engineering drawings. Requisitions bench stock for repair of aircraft structures. Prepares request for turn ins and repair parts and structural components. Uses and performs operator maintenance on common and special tools. Performs final checks on assembly and installation of parts that were replaced. Prepares forms and records related to aircraft maintenance. Removes and disassembles defective parts of the aircraft. Maintains the supplies and perform preventive maintenance. Performs additional duties, including maintenance duties, as requested. Adheres to company policies and safety programs (Safety-first mentality).Minimum RequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalent is required.U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired; certification of education level is required.Valid up-to-date A&P license (optional)Shall have three years aviation maintenance experience, two years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS). All experience must be within the six most recent years.Valid Driver's License.Must provide own tools/toolbox. Recruiters will provide toolbox requirements to candidates upon selection.Must be able to travel IAW CBA. 75% TravelClearance RequirementsMust be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.Knowledge & SkillsThorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.Thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, hydraulic press machine, sheet metal brakes and sheers and those listed in the assigned MDS Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC).Very good knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projectsPossess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by Sheetmetal/Structural Mechanic.The incumbent provides technical guidance, as required, to subordinates. Will be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks and will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.Physical Requirements/Working EnvironmentMust be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.May be required to lift/push/pull heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds.Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications.Will handle dirty parts and lubricants.Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.May work in maintenance shop or outside.Must be able to work in a shop where the environment is drafty, noisy, and dirty.May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.May be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles.May be expected to work in austere environments and all-weather conditions.Compensation Details:$37.61 Union CBAThe compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued.
