Clinical Dietitian II – Stanford Health Care The Clinical DietitianII works closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide integrated patient care aligned with medical goals and objectives. Responsibilities Apply the Nutrition Care Process (NCP), including nutrition assessment, diagnosis, intervention development and implementation, and monitoring of patient progress. Use the Scope of Dietetics Practice Framework (SODPF) and established Standards of Practice and Professional Performance (SOP/SOPP) to determine scope and select evidence‑based protocols. Provide independent nutrition care to patients, including complex cases, at a competent‑to‑proficient level of SOP/SOPP. Mentor, train, and serve as a resource for Clinical DietitianI staff and dietetic students and interns. Assist in oversight of the Nutritional Care Process in an assigned area and apply research findings to refine department standards. Lead at least one performance improvement initiative annually or develop/revise nutrition protocols or programs. Contribute to process and outcome‑measure initiatives using quantifiable indicators, and/or conduct nutrition research studies, communicating findings through reports, abstracts, presentations, and publications. Education & Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in dietetics, nutrition, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Completion of a didactic dietetics program and a supervised practice program approved by the Accreditation Council for Education and Dietetics. Master’s degree preferred. Experience Two (2) years of clinical dietitian experience plus at least one specialty certification (e.g., Certified Nutrition Support Specialist or Certified Diabetes Educator). OR Three (3) years of full‑time equivalent clinical dietitian experience in a setting that involves care of complex patients. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Comprehensive knowledge of the Nutrition Care Process and ability to apply all steps. Expertise in medical nutrition therapy and nutrition services. Working knowledge of electronic medical records, nutrient analysis, word processing, and spreadsheet software. Effective written, verbal, and electronic communication with patients, clinicians, and stakeholders. Independent function on assigned units or outpatient clinics. Clinical counseling and education skills. Critical thinking, decision making, problem solving, and collaboration. Licenses & Certifications Registered Dietitian (RD) / Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). Compensation Base Pay Scale: generally starting at $48.26 – $62.73 per hour, with final salary determined by internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
