Social Media EditorAdvance Media New York, publisher of syracuse.com, NewYorkUpstate.com (NYup.com), and The Post-Standard, is seeking a competent editor who will lead the company's social media team.In this role you will coordinate closely with newsroom leaders to ensure the best content is optimized for all social platforms. The ideal candidate will have a journalism background, video and photo editing skills, experience managing and motivating a team, and proven success growing brands on social media.The Social Media Editor will also manage content for NYup.com and lead newsletter strategy.This is an exciting opportunity for a journalist who is familiar with Central and Upstate New York and knows how to present digital content for different audiences.The base salary range is $65,000 to $85,000 per year.What you'll be doing:Help create and implement newsroom social media strategy and oversee execution by social producersCreate compelling social media posts for multiple platformsWork with other newsroom leaders on social media effortsBuild engagement and reach while monitoring performanceAssign and edit articles written for NYup.comHelp create audience using AI-assisted toolsWork with freelancers and external content creatorsLead newsletter strategy across the newsroomIdeal candidate will have the following:A minimum of 5 years of relevant journalism experienceManagement or team leadership experienceVideo and photo editing experienceDeep familiarity of social media management, platforms and analyticsA strong grasp of AP style, journalistic ethics and compelling storytellingAbility to multitask and prioritize multiple demands under deadline pressureWillingness to work flexible hours as needed, including evenings and weekendsDesire and ability to work in the syracuse.com newsroom (this is not a remote position)Experience using AI tools to produce content or willingness to learnThis job requires reliable transportation.
