Design Manager

The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial interiors, office furniture, systems furniture, space planning, and team leadership . This person should be comfortable reviewing drawings, mentoring designers, coordinating with internal departments, and helping improve design processes.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the design team, including assigning projects, reviewing work, and ensuring deadlines are met.
• Develop and oversee space plans, furniture layouts, product configurations, renderings, and technical design packages.
• Review drawings, specifications, and final design documentation for accuracy, quality, and client requirements.
• Collaborate with sales, operations, manufacturing, and installation teams to support proposals and project execution.
• Work with clients and internal teams to refine project scopes, layouts, product selections, and design solutions.
• Maintain design standards, product libraries, templates, and documentation processes.
• Ensure designs align with safety requirements, building codes, brand standards, and workplace design best practices.
• Mentor and support designers, CAD technicians, and other design team members.
• Manage design schedules, priorities, and workflow to ensure timely project delivery.
• Identify process improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and communication between departments.
• Stay current with trends and best practices in commercial interiors, workplace planning, and systems furniture design.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial interior design, office furniture design, systems furniture, workspace planning, or a related field.
• 1+ year of management, team lead, or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of space planning, furniture layouts, product configuration, and design documentation.
• Experience reviewing drawings, renderings, specifications, and installation/design packages.
• Proficiency with design software such as CET, AutoCAD, Revit, CAD tools, or similar programs.
• Ability to work closely with sales, operations, manufacturing, installation teams, and clients.
• Strong project management, organization, prioritization, and deadline-management skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
• Knowledge of workplace design standards, building codes, safety guidelines, and furniture systems best practices.
• Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.
• Prior experience in office furniture, commercial interiors, workspace planning, or manufacturing environments is strongly preferred.
