Registered Nurse - Physical Medicine/TBI

$44.11 - $70 per hour

Overview ERP International is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) supporting Physical Medicine/Traumatic Brain Injury services at Naval Medical Center San Diego, CA and associated branch health clinics. Benefits include: Excellent Compensation & Exceptional Comprehensive Benefits Paid Vacation, Paid Sick Time, and 11 Paid Federal Holidays Medical/Dental/Vision, STD, LTD and Life Insurance, Health Savings Account and more Annual CME Stipend and License/Certification Reimbursement Matching 401(k) Responsibilities Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9 hours between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, with a one‑hour lunch No weekends or holidays Job Specific Details and Tasks: Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals to achieve optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness. Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF. Perform physical exam and health histories. Provide health promotions, counseling, and education. Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions. Direct and supervise care provided by other healthcare professionals. Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel. Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations. Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization. Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate. Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes. Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement and safety. Use an electronic health record and other software applications, or revert to paper documentation if systems are unavailable, to appropriately document assessments, interventions, and evaluation of patients’ plans of care. Maintain a level of productivity comparable with that of other individuals performing similar services. Participate in peer review and performance improvement activities. Practice aseptic techniques and comply with infection control guidelines, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of infectious wastes, and the use of universal precautions to prevent the spread of infection. Perform efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events. Anticipate potential problems/emergencies and make appropriate interventions. Notify supervisor, leadership, or other designated person regarding problems that the HCW is unable to manage. Apply an awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and strive to manage situations in a reduced risk manner. Participate in the implementation of the Family Advocacy Program as directed, including appropriate medical examination, documentation, and reporting. Maintain awareness of patient/significant others’ rights and responsibilities for own professional practice. Participate in continuing education to meet own professional growth. Actively participate in the command’s Performance Improvement Program and meetings to review and evaluate care provided to patients. Provide in‑service training to clinic, ward, or unit staff members. Assist with providing training and/or clinical direction to supporting government HCWs (e.g., hospital corpsmen, students). Attend and participate in various meetings as directed. Perform timely, accurate, and concise documentation of patient care. Operate and manipulate automated systems such as ADS, MHS Genesis; participate in clinical staff Performance Improvement (PI) and Risk Management (RM) functions as prescribed. Maintain DOD email account and respond to all email and voicemail communications. Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with clinic directives and prepare required records and reports. Assess each patient and perform triage duties as assigned. Formulate and carry out a goal‑directed plan of care based on nursing diagnosis and patient outcomes, prioritized by patient needs and available resources. Evaluate effectiveness of self‑care given by the health team and the contribution of systems, environment, and instrumentation in patient progress. Provide treatment and discharge instructions upon patient release. Perform assessment/data collection systematically, focusing on physiological, psychological and cognitive status. Provide safe and clean environment for each patient. Identify learning needs of patient/significant others and implement appropriate measures. Assist in planning, provide clinical direction and instruction to LPNs/LVNs, nursing assistants and ancillary personnel. Follow up with patient referred by PCM or IBHC and focus on patient progress in PCM treatment adherence. Participate in PCM or IBHC case staffing and consultations involving patients actively engaged or who may benefit from care facilitator services. Participate in screening processes developed by IBHC and PCM to improve recognition of depression and PTSD, and provide curriculum content for classes that promote education and skill‑building. Raise awareness of behavioral health issues and care facilitator services, and inform Clinic Manager of administrative/clinical problems as they arise. Participate in accreditation and Medical Home Port recognition processes (JC, IG, etc.). Coordinate schedule and non‑availability, with other BHIPMHP team members, to ensure adequate access to care. Participate in MHP team huddles. Qualifications Minimum Education: Minimum ADN from an accredited college or university. Minimum Experience: Minimum 1 year relevant and recent experience after graduation. Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted RN license from any state. Life Support Certifications: AHA or ARC BLS Certification. Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance. Salary: $44.11/hr – $70/hr.
