Care Manager

About the Role Thornton Hall & Lodge is a bright, spacious, purpose-built 100‑bed home offering high‑quality residential, dementia and short‑stay care. Rated ‘Good’ by the CQC, our home provides a warm environment, excellent standards and a strong commitment to dignity, independence and choice. We are seeking a passionate and confident Care Manager to support the Home Manager in leading our experienced care team and maintaining exceptional standards across our residential and dementia communities. Key Responsibilities Lead, supervise and motivate care teams to deliver compassionate, high‑quality care. Support the Home Manager with daily operations, compliance and inspections. Act as a key contact for residents, families and external professionals, fostering strong relationships. Lead on safeguarding concerns and ensure appropriate follow‑up in the manager’s absence. Oversee care plans, assessments and medication administration, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance. Monitor resident wellbeing, respond quickly to changes and update records accordingly. Support staffing functions, including supervision, training, induction and team meetings. Promote a positive, resident‑focused culture aligned with Orchard’s values of respect, trust and care. About You We’re looking for a caring, confident leader who can inspire teams, support high standards and lead by example. We especially welcome someone who has experience managing a smaller care home or service, and is now ready to step up into a larger, more complex environment while still keeping a hands‑on, person‑centred approach. Requirements Previous experience in a senior or leadership role within a care home setting. Level 5 Leadership & Management for Adult Care. Strong communication, interpersonal and supervisory skills. Ability to prioritise, stay organised and make sound decisions under pressure. Compassionate, resident‑focused approach with a commitment to dignity and independence.
