Electrical Engineer

New York, New YorkFacilities – MEP and Heavy Industry /Full Time /HybridThe Electrical Engineer will perform mid to high level complexity design and project management on a variety of projects acting as lead or support resource for prime and sub consultant work under the direction of client or Milhouse Engineering management. Typical design work includes low and medium voltage power distribution systems, motor control circuits, raceway systems, fire alarm systems, underground utility plans and profiles, interior and outdoor lighting systems, cathodic protection systems, panelboard and apparatus schedules and interfacing with utility companies.What you will do:Electrical engineering from conceptual design through construction administration and post-occupancyCoordinating with multiple disciplines and acting as electrical engineer to ensure that projects are delivered within budget and on scheduleKeeps management advised of all quality, schedule, and budget variances in a timely manner Prepare contract amendments, change order documentation, and claim documentationReview and approve shop drawings and attend client meetings during the construction administration phaseWriting reports for internal and external purposes based on findingsEnsures discipline plans that are created meet overall project team requirements for project scope and schedulePrepares project documents and reports and adheres to the project quality plan Stays current on codes and technologies appropriate to the electrical and fire alarm disciplinesResearches, develops, designs, specifies and witnesses the testing of electrical systems, equipment, components and materials, applying principles and techniques of electrical engineeringOrganizes and conducts site visits for the purpose of data collection and evaluation of electrical systems, equipment, components and materials for projects with and without well-defined scopesDevelops designs within a BIM design environmentDevelops, designs and specifies site electrical power, and equipment, components and materialsDevelops, designs and specifies equipment, components and materials for all building electrical systemsCompletes assigned engineering and design tasks in accordance with client specified criteria and applicable codes and standardsReporting safety, health, and quality issues to managementSupport junior team membersOther duties as assignedWho you are:Four-year technical degree from an ABET accredited institution 6-8 years of relevant electrical design experience Engineer In training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferredCertifications in LEED, lighting design, or similar certification preferredFamiliar with discipline specific design software and design management systemsRevit proficiency Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel as well as AutoCAD or MicroStationKnowledge of applicable codes and standardsKnowledge of standard format specification developmentAt Milhouse, we’re more than just a place to work — we’re a place to grow, thrive, and be celebrated.
