You'll work alongside experienced project managers, field leaders, and preconstruction professionals while contributing to projects that shape communities across the Twin Cities and beyond.This internship offers exposure to all phases of the construction process, providing valuable insight into project planning, coordination, communication, safety, and project execution. If you're eager to learn, thrive in a collaborative environment, and want to kickstart your construction management career, we'd love to meet you.What You'll DoReview and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents to understand project scope and requirements.Collaborate with project managers, field staff, subcontractors, architects, and owners to support project execution.Attend project meetings, including owner-architect-contractor meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, pre-installation meetings, and punch list reviews.Assist with project scheduling and help track progress against key milestones.Maintain and update as-built drawings and project documentation.Participate in jobsite visits and safety walkthroughs alongside field and project management teams.Help coordinate material procurement, deliveries, and logistics to support project schedules.Track project information, correspondence, and reports to ensure accurate and organized records.Assist with project closeout documentation and final project turnover activities.Stay informed on emerging construction technologies, industry trends, and best practices.EducationCurrently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field.Preferred Experience & KnowledgeGeneral knowledge of commercial building construction methods, practices, and terminology.Working knowledge of building codes and construction regulations.Previous construction, estimating, or internship experience preferred, but not required.Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project documents.Understanding of construction systems and CSI MasterFormat divisions.Interest in project management, project coordination, and commercial construction.Technical SkillsExperience with or willingness to learn:Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project.Bluebeam Revu.Viewpoint software.Construction project management and document control systems.Digital collaboration and project communication tools.Professional CompetenciesWe're looking for someone who is:Organized with excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.A strong verbal and written communicator.Confident interacting professionally with clients, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and project team members.Team-oriented, adaptable, and eager to take on new challenges.Skilled at building and maintaining positive professional relationships.Proactive, dependable, and committed to contributing to project success.Motivated to learn and grow within a collaborative, high-performance culture.Certifications, Activities & AchievementsWe value students who demonstrate initiative and engagement through:School or industry-related certifications, achievements, awards, or honors.Participation in construction, engineering, architecture, or business-related student organizations.Leadership experience, community involvement, volunteer work, or extracurricular activities.Why RJM?Real-world experience on commercial construction projects.Mentorship from experienced project managers and construction professionals.Exposure to the entire project lifecycle, from planning and coordination through project closeout.Opportunities to develop leadership, communication, and project management skills.Collaborative, team-oriented culture where your contributions make an impact.A company committed to investing in your growth and future career success.At RJM, you'll do more than observe projects.
