WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD Responsibilities Conceive and design research or development projects and develop detailed protocols and submissions for conducting experiments, analysis, testing, etc. The position involves processing and analysis of human blood samples. Develop detailed protocols for conducting experiments, analysis, testing for own projects. Create proposals for external funding of projects or obtain project approval and funding through internal review procedures. Summarize and document results and projects to prepare technical reports, manuscripts, and publications. Assist other scientific staff and participating personnel in objectives and methodology of projects. WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED Education : Master's degree in relevant biomedical discipline required, with Ph.D. preferred or equivalent combination of education and related experience. Experience : Minimum 1 years of related experience required, including proficiency in metagenomic next generation sequencing, specifically with nanopore sequencing technologies (Oxford Nanopore). Proficiency in Flow Cytometry, design and execution of immunological assays, protein coupling chemistries, data acquisition, analysis and reporting. Experience with SAS, SPSS, GraphPad highly desirable. Strong organization skills and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. Skills & Abilities : Ability to work on a team. This is an on site position at our facility located at: 15601 Crabbs Branch Way, Derwood, MD. 20855 Pay Information The annual salary for this position is $95,000.00- $98,000.00. This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded. Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Physical Requirements Depending on work assignment, may require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of up to 20 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information. Overall mobility is essential. May include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle and working under challenging conditions.
