Director, Clinical Professional Development: Sharon Hospital

Job Description Develops, plans, coordinates, implements and evaluates the educational and staff development programs for Patient Care Services and /or facility. Directs and supervises the activities and staff of the department. Job Responsibilities Directs Nursing orientation and staff development to validate and enhance competence of clinical staff. Supports implementation and utilization of clinical nursing research. Incorporates System and institutional values, goals and objectives into various educational programs presented to staff in alignment with the System dashboard. Directs the development and implementation of continuing education programs in Nursing. Directs the planning and implementation of education programs which will validate and enhance professional and ancillary competence. Educates and markets the roles and responsibilities of nursing to a variety of audiences in the lay and professional community. Evaluates program outcomes and makes modifications as needed. Organizes nurse educators to meet the educational needs of the nursing staff using the nursing department organizational plan and current developments in the institution and System. Chairs the facility Nurse Educator Council. Collaborates with nursing leadership, nursing staff and other disciplines to organize Nursing Education, Quality Improvement and Research programs. Participates in Nursing Quality Improvement activities. Promotes interdisciplinary collaboration. Promotes the use by colleges and universities of the facilities for clinical education and fosters good relationship between hospital and their educational institutions. Networks to establish Hospital as a pre-eminent source of professional education, healthcare information and patient care delivery. Evaluates program/student placement effectiveness on an ongoing basis. Responsible for the total annual budget for nursing education services. Analyzes expenses and operations, implements cost effective alternatives which promote quality improvement. Participates in the development of institutional and departmental goals and objectives. Selects, develops, manages and evaluates direct reports; oversees the selection, development, management and evaluation of indirect reports. Performs related duties as required. Job Qualifications Master's Degree in Nursing or related field, required. Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State and/or Connecticut required, plus specialized certifications as needed. 8-12 years of technical experience and 7+ years of leadership / management experience, required. *Additional Salary Detail The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
