Line Of Business Personal & Commercial Banking Job Description The Retail Banker I is a customer liaison that uses financial expertise and consultative advice to help customers with their banking solutions and needs. Depth & Scope Proficient in products, services, and routine transactions to identify opportunities to educate customers on bank products and refer them to the appropriate team member or internal partner. Broad knowledge of the full product suite, services, and processes of the business area, with low to moderate complexity or risk. Establishes and nurtures customer relationships by consistently displaying product knowledge and actively listening to customer needs. Recommends products based on customer needs, highlighting features and benefits to support customers through challenging times and life events. Uses customer relationship management tools to assess customers proactively and engage in outbound sales activities. Independently resolves customer issues, errors, and problems, escalating when necessary. Communicates detailed or complex information clearly to customers. Performs a range of activities with full proficiency gained through job‑related training. Participates in customer outreach, servicing, and advice activities to deliver on an unexpectedly human promise. Gathers information about loan products and facilitates application intake. Maintains an active registration status with NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry). Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED. 1+ years of experience working with customers and/or sales in any capacity (volunteering, education, or military experience preferred). Teller experience preferred. Ready to complete teller training upon hire to handle customer transactions. Demonstrated ability to engage customers and educate them on products and services. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment. Excellent communication skills; concise, clear, and consistent. Ability to schedule and prioritize work. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Sound judgment and effective problem‑solving skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Notary License preferred. Customer Accountabilities Delivers legendary experience by building relationships and providing service and advice. Supports the bank’s Customer Service Strategy and delivers end‑to‑end advice to customers through education, consultative support, and proactive insights. Advocates for customers, providing proactive tips and insights to save time and money. Executes problem resolution or sound advice to yield solutions that satisfy customers. Guides customer flow and warmly welcomes customers in the branch. Encourages self‑service options to fit customer preferences. Acts as a point of escalation for customer questions or concerns. Performs teller transactions, monitors fraud mitigation, and follows operational policies. Considers impact of decisions on company, customers, and stakeholders. Serves as a brand champion internally and externally. Educates clients on digital options and self‑service channels. Personalizes each banking interaction. Shareholder Accountabilities Ensures compliance with operating activities per company guidelines and regulations (Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act). Participates in daily operations to align with the risk framework. Applies operating policies and procedures. Supports timely and accurate completion of business processes. Escalates non‑standard or high‑risk transactions as necessary. Maintains accurate documentation that reflects client/business intentions. Undergoes due diligence for accurate customer transactions. Complies with the Bank Code of Conduct. Drives operational excellence and a sound location. Adheres to all risk and control policies. Employee/Team Accountabilities Participates fully as a team member, supporting a positive work environment and effective communication. Cultivates personal knowledge and shares expertise with teammates. Participates in performance management and development activities. Communicates project status and relevant information. Establishes relationships with partner bankers for referrals. Supports team success and organizational goals. Seeks opportunities to improve quality and delivery of work. OCC Language This position falls within the definition of Loan Originator and Mortgage Loan Originator per Regulation Z, the Truth in Lending Act, and the SAFE Act. Must satisfy registration requirements for mortgage loan originators with NMLS. Must pass background check and credit report assessment per federal law. Physical Requirements The role involves predominately sedentary work, with occasional lifting, walking, and standing. Typical activities include operating office equipment, responding to sounds, concentrating for long periods, and reading and comprehending instructions.
