Job Overview The Phlebotomist II is responsible for training and performing venous and micro blood specimen collection from in‑patients and out‑patients, transporting specimens to the laboratory, and maintaining high standards of accuracy and patient care. Key Responsibilities Train new hires, students, and associates on collection procedures. Demonstrate accuracy and precision in performing venipuncture and other laboratory procedures. Maintain organization, accuracy, and precision under stressful conditions. Coordinate patient care and department communications with lab associates. Perform other job functions as assigned. Provide leadership and guidance to less experienced associates. Education & Training Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferred: Technical degree or diploma in phlebotomy. Experience Required: 0–1 year phlebotomy experience. Preferred: Experience in a healthcare environment. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficient in performing venipuncture autonomously. Proficient with basic office equipment, computers, multi‑line phones, and data entry. High attention to detail and accuracy. Problem‑solving and decision‑making skills. Superior customer service and communication skills. Basic arithmetic calculations. Ability to read and follow written instructions. Task organization and workflow control. Ability to teach and provide leadership to raise performance of others. Work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision. Remain focused and productive in stressful situations. Diplomatically handle frustrated patients, families, staff, and providers. Physical Demands Climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, repetitive motion; may exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally or 25 lbs. frequently.
