Patient sitters may also be required to transport patients. These professionals replace older forms of patient supervision like restraints and seclusion rooms. Patient sitterswork in conjunction with the various patient care Managers, Directors, and Clinical Care Supervisor, House Supervisors, RNs, AND CNAs to ensuresafety and companionship to help patients through challenging medical issues.The Patient Sitter will communicate patient safety needs by accurately documenting patient behaviors. The Patient Sitter’s work is reflective of CCH mission, vision and values. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Supervising patients care without distractions. Maintaining a safe environment for patients. Alerting nurses when patients need help or interventions. Assisting patients with basic requests. Transport patients to and from inpatient beds and other areas like therapy, surgery or radiology or to other facilities. Refraining from performing medical procedures or any unauthorized actions. Accurately documenting patient behaviors. Active listening and communication of needs and concerns. Ability to observe situations. Ability to handle emotionally distressing situations. Professional appearance and hygiene. Ability to act calmly under pressure. Ability to be on call, to work nights, weekends, and holidays. May be required to work on other nursing units. Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices. Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned.
