Habitat Restoration Technician

HELIX Environmental Planning, Inc. (HELIX) is a California-based employee‑owned environmental consulting firm. We are looking for an experienced Habitat Restoration Technician to join our team in Los Angeles (El Monte). The role focuses on habitat restoration projects for public and private clients. Employee‑owned since 2004 Hybrid work schedule with in‑office and remote flexibility Professional growth, development, and training Recognized for workplace practices, wellness programs, and community contributions Named one of the 2023 Best Firms to Work For by ZweigGroup Habitat Restoration Technician Duties The Technician will work on job sites to remove non‑native plant species, conduct mowing, weed whipping, and herbicide application, install native plantings, install irrigation, and perform related tasks directed by the Habitat Restoration Lead and Supervisor. Duties include daily tailgate meetings, periodic training sessions, and occasional out‑of‑town travel for projects. This position is not a landscaping role. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills and effective written and verbal communication. Requirements Minimum Requirements for Habitat Restoration Technician Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods Physically able and willing to work in varying terrain and weather conditions Additional Skills Considered a Plus Valid California Driver’s License with a clean record over the last 3 years 1+ years of general labor and/or landscaping experience Knowledge of native plants Irrigation experience Planting experienceAbility to use a smartphone and tablet for reporting Salary Description Hourly wages based on qualifications and experience. Starting rates range from $20 to $24 per hour. Positions are available at three levels, with placement based on previous experience.
