This instructor must ensure that a positive, upbeat, diversified, interesting, and active learning environment occurs in both classrooms and labs, giving the students relevant and worthwhile experiences daily. The responsibilities include planning, organizing, and implementing an effective instructional training program in a professional learning environment that guides, encourages, and enables students to develop into industry professionals. Dixie Tech is a public technical college located on a state-of-the-art campus in St. George, Utah. The College has 30 Council on Occupational Education-accredited programs that offer certifications in high-demand, high-pay professions.Benefits:Medical and dental coverage, with the College paying the costs of the medical plan and most of the costs of the dental planEmployer contributions to Health Savings Account ($1950 per year for single coverage, $3450 for double coverage, and $4950 for three or more) without a match requirementEmployer contributions to 403(b) account, amounting to 20.4% of the employee's pay without a match requirement. Develop and update curriculum, syllabi, and lesson plans to ensure industry-relevant, effective, and skills-based learning experiences and outcomes.Establish and communicate clear objectives and well-defined competencies for the program and all learning activities.Ensure the classroom and lab are prepared for daily learning activitiesAssign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments in a timely mannerStructure classes in Canvas to support student learningObserve, evaluate, and record students' performance and development, and provide appropriate and helpful feedback. Conduct and document student reviews with students on a regular basis. Involve Student Services when problems develop before they become criticalManage student behavior by establishing and enforcing appropriate rules and procedures; involve Student Services when problems developEnsure objectives for all program students are reflected on each syllabus and match the module sign-offs in the Student Information System (Northstar)Ensure that all student data is updated on a real-time basis in Northstar and that students are retained, complete, graduate, pass any relevant licensure exams, and find placements in related employment.Meet or exceed performance metrics for the program established by the VP of InstructionMaintain integrity and confidentiality in all circumstances, especially concerning student information. Adhere to FERPA requirements and guidelines.Stay up-to-date in industry advancements and adjust curriculum where appropriate to prepare students for current industry needsAlong with the department director and the VP of Instruction, develop and propose admissions standards to enhance student success. Assist recruiters and admissions to fill program cohortsAssure safety standards are used which comply with all College, City, County, State, and Federal guidelinesModel a professional environment for the students in the classroom and labSchedule industry professionals for specialized presentations and training where appropriateSupervise, recruit, train, support, and assist adjunct instructors as neededBe an active, positive, and participative member of the department team. Communicate effectively with program director and program instructors. Help to develop a healthy network of industry partners and assist students in obtaining employment in their field of studyActively ensure the program follows all guidelines and conditions necessary to meet the standards of COE accreditation, including completion of Employee Verification forms and maintaining records of contacts with industry partnersActively participate in documenting, collecting, and placing Standard 2 criteria evidence following the guidelines sheet into the COE program folder biannually, meeting all deadlines.Assist with biannual Occupational Advisory Committee (OAC) meetings and ensure accreditation compliance. Maintain communication with OAC. Take direction and implement decisions made by the committeeParticipate with program team to ensure that program spending is within established budgets, and maintain inventory for all instructional itemsParticipate in approved professional development opportunities. Be open to feedback and seek to continuously improve teaching skills and technical knowledge related to program focus and content. Maintain inventory for all instructional supplies and review program needs and budget with program director regularlyCollaborate with the program instructional team to develop, implement, and maintain curriculum maps and syllabi that align course content with program outcomes and industry standards while also meeting regulatory requirementsDesign, coordinate, and assess any internal or external work-based learning activities that provide students with practical, hands-on experience relevant to their field of study. Make sure all such experiences are designed for student success and are correctly documented, overseen, and meet accreditation requirementsEnsure that students and staff are treated respectfully and equally without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, age (40 or over), national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy, childbirth, or pregnancy-related condition. Report all violations immediately to HR or Student ServicesCompliance with Dixie Tech Policies and ProceduresOther duties as assignedRequirements and Qualifications:5+ years' experience in industry requiredHigh School diploma or equivalent requiredAssociate degree or Industry Recognized Certificate Program completionBachelor's degree preferredTeaching/training experience preferredContacts with local industry preferredStrong knowledge of Microsoft Office/Google Suite applicationsStrong communications and presentation skillsThe employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less.
