Description JOB SUMMARY The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator I is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing volunteer engagement strategies that support volunteer recruitment, onboarding, placement, retention, and overall volunteer success throughout Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains (GSTOP). This position collaborates with volunteers, troop leaders, members, caregivers, and staff to ensure a positive and seamless volunteer experience from recruitment through ongoing engagement and support. The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator I supports volunteer placement, onboarding, training coordination, and member-to-troop connections while providing responsive customer service and guidance to volunteers and families. This position helps ensure volunteers receive the resources, information, and support needed to deliver a high-quality Girl Scout Leadership Experience and that girls are successfully connected to meaningful Girl Scout opportunities. The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator I champions these values through volunteer support, relationship building, and service efforts that foster welcoming, inclusive, and accessible opportunities for girls and volunteers. The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator I exercises independent judgment and discretion in matters related to volunteer engagement, member placement, troop support, volunteer onboarding, and service delivery. This position evaluates volunteer and member needs, recommends solutions, manages stakeholder relationships, and collaborates with the Regional Manager on matters impacting volunteer experience, member engagement, and regional priorities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Volunteer Engagement & Support Onboards, places, and supports volunteers to strengthen their connection to the Girl Scout mission and programs. Builds and maintains positive relationships with volunteers and ensures they receive timely resources, information, and support. Implements volunteer appreciation, recognition, and renewal activities to enhance volunteer satisfaction and retention. Provides guidance to volunteers and supports resolution of routine questions and concerns. Ensures compliance with Girl Scout policies, procedures, and volunteer requirements. Supports volunteers in delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and achieving positive outcomes for girls. Member & Troop Placement Facilitates the placement of new girl and adult members into troops and other participation pathways. Converts prospective members into active participants through lead follow-up and placement efforts. Contacts prospective members and volunteers through phone, email, text, and other communication channels to support placement and engagement. Collaborates with Community Engagement staff, Service Unit volunteers, and troop leaders to identify troop needs and placement opportunities. Assesses troop capacity and availability to support successful member placement. Communicates with troop leaders, caregivers, and volunteers to ensure a smooth onboarding experience. Maintains accurate records of troop placements, vacancies, volunteer assignments, and membership activities. Data Management & Reporting Utilizes Salesforce, Looker, and other Council systems to track volunteer and member engagement activities. Maintains accurate and confidential records related to volunteer and membership activities. Prepares reports and monitors key metrics related to recruitment, placement, retention, and volunteer engagement. Conducts surveys and collects feedback to assess volunteer satisfaction and engagement. Collaborates with internal teams to align volunteer support and troop placement efforts with organizational goals. Training & Development Conducts orientations and onboarding sessions for new volunteers and troop leaders. Supports the development and delivery of training resources and educational materials. Promotes ongoing learning opportunities that strengthen volunteer confidence and effectiveness. Performs other duties and supports special projects as assigned. CORE COMPETENCIES Relationship Building Communication Coaching & Mentoring Collaboration Decision Making Problem Solving Conflict Resolution Strategic Thinking Leadership Development Accountability JOB QUALIFICATIONS - - Knowledge, skills, and abilities Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Education, Nonprofit Management, Human Services, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in volunteer management, customer service, membership services, community engagement, nonprofit operations, or a related field preferred. Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required. Commitment to the mission and purpose of Girl Scouting. Membership in Girl Scouts organization. Must be willing to work with all people without regard to race, religion, ethnic origin, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, age, or disability. Experience utilizing Salesforce or other constituent relationship management (CRM) systems preferred. Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with volunteers, members, community leaders, organizations, businesses, and other stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and achieve results in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, travel, and occasional overnight assignments as required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communications, including facilitating training sessions, workshops, and group discussions for volunteers, members, and community stakeholders. Demonstrated problem-solving, organizational, and customer service skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion. Have and maintain a valid Texas driver's license, an acceptable driving record, acceptable insurance, and reliable transportation. Must complete and pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, and drug screening.
