Job Description
This role focuses on applying high‑quality industrial paint finishes in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. You will prepare surfaces, mix and apply a variety of coatings, and ensure finished parts meet strict quality and safety standards. The position is well‑suited for individuals with a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1–2 years of experience in industrial painting, finish painting, spray painting, or auto body painting, or those who have completed relevant apprenticeship or formal training.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough surface preparation, including sanding, grinding, masking, taping, and cleaning parts prior to painting.
- Apply primers, topcoats, epoxies, urethanes, two‑part coatings, and other industrial coatings to achieve consistent, high‑quality finishes.
- Operate HVLP, airless, pressure‑pot spray systems, and spray guns safely and effectively.
- Set up, operate, and maintain spray equipment, paint booths, sanding equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Mix and prepare coatings according to specifications, including two‑component coatings when trained and authorized.
- Read and follow work orders, specifications, and coating instructions to ensure correct materials, colors, and processes are used.
- Inspect parts and finished surfaces for defects such as runs, sags, orange peel, coverage issues, and other finish imperfections.
- Identify, correct, and perform touch‑ups on coating defects to meet quality standards and customer requirements.
- Use tools such as dry film thickness (DFT) gauges, viscosity cups, and mixing equipment to verify coating quality and consistency.
- Follow established work instructions, safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, and 5S practices throughout daily tasks.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, including proper storage and handling of paints, coatings, and related materials.
- Support production goals by completing assigned tasks efficiently, accurately, and on schedule.
- Communicate progress, issues, and equipment concerns to supervisors or leads in a timely manner.
- Work under immediate supervision while demonstrating reliability, safety awareness, and the ability to work independently when required.
Essential Skills
- 1–2 years of experience as an Industrial Painter, Finish Painter, Spray Painter, or auto body painter in an industrial or automotive environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of epoxy, urethane, and two‑part coatings.
- Proficiency in paint preparation, industrial painting, and finishing processes.
- Experience with sanding, grinding, masking, taping, and general paint prep.
- Ability to operate HVLP, airless, pressure‑pot spray systems, and spray guns.
- Understanding of paint booth operation, proper ventilation, and appropriate use of PPE.
- Ability to read and follow work orders, specifications, and coating instructions accurately.
- Experience using DFT gauges, viscosity cups, and mixing equipment to verify coating quality.
- Skill in identifying and correcting coating defects and finish issues.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality work.
- Reliable, safety‑focused work habits and the ability to work independently as well as within a team.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Apprenticeship or formal training in industrial painting, coatings, auto body, or a related field.
- Experience with industrial paint booths and non‑temperature‑controlled manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with 5S and continuous improvement practices in a production setting.
- Comfort working with various industrial coatings, including two‑component systems.
- Ability to adapt to multiple shifts and overtime as production needs require.

Work Environment
This position is based in a large, non‑temperature‑controlled manufacturing plant with expansive production areas, including CNC workstations and welding bays, with further expansion planned. AC and heat will be installed within the next year.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $46446.00 - $51901.00/yr.
