divh2Bus Driver/h2pThe Bus Driver fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by contributing to the safety of children while being transported to and from school and other events. This is accomplished within the framework of the schools philosophy and organization. The Bus Driver has decision making responsibilities within essential job functions, in keeping with school policies. The position is hired and evaluated by the principal./ppCatholic schools in the Diocese of Austin are canonically obedient to the Bishop and assist him in fulfilling his ministry and canonical obligations. Pastors, presidents, and principals serve as leaders of the schools to make Christs mission present and enduring in the schools. In order to fulfill Christs mission, the school leaders employ suitable, chosen collaborators, sharing with them Christs mission and entrusting to them various responsibilities./ppPositions employed in this School help extend the ministry of the School leaders in particular ways as outlined in the job description. The employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the School leaders in the performance of their ministry and, therefore, engages in ministry for the Church./ppEssential Duties/pulliSupports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school/liliActs as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church/liliSupports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Diocese/liliMaintains confidentiality regarding school matters/liliCommunicates with the principal regarding safety/discipline concerns of students/liliDemonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits/liliTransports students to and from school and school activities in compliance with federal, state and local regulations/liliAbides by regulations and vehicle guidelines regarding maintenance and operation of vehicles/liliPerforms checks of the vehicles prior to use to ensure safe operation/liliFollows all safety and emergency procedures while operating the vehicle/liliMaintains a work schedule that maximizes availability to the school, students, and staff/liliAbide by the rules regarding the safety and discipline of student riders/liliNotify Principal of occurrence of accidents and other important incidents and complete written reports/liliSubmits to Principals office all requests for needed maintenance and repairs to vehicle(s)/liliClass A or B CDL with School Bus endorsement/liliWillingness to travel as far as Waco, Marble Falls, and San Antonio for athletics district competitions/li/ulpKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities/pulliKnowledge of motor vehicle laws and school policies and procedures/liliAble to manage student behavior respectfully and effectively/liliAble to communicate effectively both orally and verbally/liliAble to work well with others in the school community/liliAble to respond to a crisis effectively/liliKnowledge in general vehicle maintenance and operation/li/ulpMinimum Qualifications/ppEducation:/ppExperience:/pulliNone required/li/ulpCertifications and Training:/pulliHolds a valid Class B Texas Drivers License/liliHolds Passenger and/or School Bus (P and S) endorsements, as needed/liliHolds a safe driving record and be free of restrictions/liliMust submit an Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) Application for Ministry within the first week of employment, participate in an EIM Basic abuse prevention training workshop within 30 days of submitting a complete Application for Ministry, and maintain EIM compliance during the entire term of employment./li/ulpWorking Conditions:/pulliRequired to manage high to moderate levels of stress/liliRequired to work according to schedule/liliRequired to work in standard school and vehicle conditions/li/ulpEmployee Certification:/pulliAll employees must adhere to the Catholic Schools Standards of Conduct, the Diocese of Austin EIM policies, and the social, ethical, and moral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church as interpreted by the Bishop of Austin./liliTexas is an at-will employment state.
