Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Senior Category Manager – Indirect Procurement to originate and implement strategic category plans and a wide variety of contracts for the Specialties business. This role supports various categories, including AMR/EUR regional indirect materials, global indirect materials, and other categories such as energy and packaging materials.
Job Description
- Develop and implement multi-year category strategies for Direct Materials, Packaging, and Tolling/Contract Manufacturing Services to deliver value creation, the lowest total cost of ownership, and the highest customer satisfaction
- Source and qualify new suppliers and manage existing supplier relationships in support of global and regional categories
- Manage supplier compliance with procurement standards and policies
- Oversee and engage vendors to ensure services align with the changing needs of the business, identify new business opportunities, drive root cause analysis for continuous improvement, and provide dispute resolution
- Design, implement, and update strategic supply plans to drive total cost competitiveness while maintaining alignment with business objectives
- Maintain regular contact with direct managers, business units, manufacturing and technology leaders, and other stakeholders to obtain alignment on service level expectations and business objectives
- Develop global and regional category strategies by acting as a supply market expert and aligning procurement initiatives with business objectives
- Manage supplier engagement through meetings and other communication platforms
- Lead supplier qualification projects and ensure supplier compliance with procurement standards and policies
- Challenge existing business concepts and sole/single-source situations to improve business performance by aligning strategies with business leaders and internal stakeholders
- Respond quickly to urgent situations by supporting crisis management efforts and establishing mitigation plans for short-, mid-, and long-term needs
- Drive global compliance with applicable legislation, standards, and requirements, including ESG and Carbon Neutrality initiatives
- Promote cross-functional teamwork by aligning work processes to achieve high performance standards, meet established objectives, and support a collaborative work environment
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective execution and smooth business operations
- Lead key negotiations and maintain strong business relationships with senior management of manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers
- Develop and execute global or regional agreements across all required regions, including updating SAP and coordinating with sites, supply chain teams, and buyers
- Support procurement categories in developing and implementing sourcing strategies that drive business profitability and growth
- Maintain regular communication with site end users, senior management, and business unit managers to ensure sourcing strategies remain aligned with business needs
- Drive and influence change management through cross-functional teams
- Manage the vendor approval process in alignment with business strategy
- Conduct benchmarking and market research activities, engage suppliers to leverage innovation, and monitor market trends to anticipate future business requirements
Skills Required
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in the petrochemical industry, including procurement, supply chain, sourcing, technology, business economics, market dynamics, and value drivers
- Functional project leadership experience with the ability to handle multiple tasks
- Mastery of SAP MM Module in a procurement environment, request-to-pay processes, and all associated SAP reporting transactions and data mining functions necessary for the role
- Excellent collaboration skills with business partners to develop annual plans and associated Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, collaboration, and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and proactively in a complex environment
- Effective communication skills across a multinational and cross-functional organization
Education/Training/Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to pass a drug screen & criminal background check
- Work Schedule: Hybrid, normal business hours: 3 days in office, 2 days remote (may be required onsite more often for training as deemed necessary by manager)
- Ability to travel up to 25%
Pay Rate/Salary
- $50-65/hr. Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors
