About the Facility Wanblee Health Center The Wanblee Health Center, located in Wanblee, SD, is a vital community facility providing essential healthcare services to the region. Responsibilities
- The Licensed Practical Nurse shall obtain patient history and patient family history.
- Perform quality control checks and operator maintenance for a variety of patient care equipment.
- The LPN shall assist in identifying patient needs and implementing the plan of care.
- Document care given and patient response in the medical record.
- Prepare patient for physical examination.
- Communicate pertinent patient data to the appropriate provider.
- Possess knowledge of actions and usual dosages of most commonly used emergency drugs and their location.
- Recognize emergency situations and initiate appropriate resuscitative measures.
- Conduct prescribed nurse initiated, nurse practitioner, and physician orders and document in patient medical record.
- The Licensed Practical Nurse assists in patient/family education regarding prescribed medications/therapies/diagnostic procedures.
- Assess patient/family knowledge level, implement plan of instructions and record patient/family demonstrated level of understanding.
- Assure content and correctness of a prepared report and sign document to validate its content.
- Participate in monitoring quality of care according to processional standards and established procedures.
- Respond to telephone inquiries regarding ward services and/or follow-up ancillary reports.
- Assist with ward related administrative tasks.
- Administer oxygen, intravenous fluids and prescribed medications in accordance with the Client policy.
- The Licensed Practical Nurse demonstrates sensitivity to cultural diversity, race, gender, and other individual differences in the workforce and in the community.
Requirements
- Education: Completed a program in practical nursing of at least 9 months' duration combined with 1 year of nursing assistant experience; or successful completion of a 2-year degree in practical nursing. and have passed the NCLEX-PN exam.
- Licensure: Must possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
- Certification: Valid American Heart Association certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Experience: Two years of nursing care work in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical nursing or patient care facility.
