To learn more about Pearce visit Overview The Advanced Solar Field Service Technician (Operations and Maintenance) in the PEARCE Renewables Solar Operations and Maintenance Division performs tasks involving physical labor at solar energy sites near Huntsville, Alabama. The Solar Field Service Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of solar power plants in accordance with established preventative and corrective maintenance standards while always maintaining safety and professionalism. These are local sites; candidates must reside within 50 miles of Huntsville, Alabama. Core Responsibilities Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance of Solar Utility and Sub‑Station equipment. Document work orders, time logs, inventory control, and emergency information schedules. Troubleshoot electrical components using digital multi‑meters, meggers, amp clamps, and similar test equipment. Test and troubleshoot installed solar equipment to ensure proper working order. Follow Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) safety procedures. Work independently or as part of a team. Operate and maintain a motor vehicle safely and legally per company guidelines and insurance requirements. Core Experience and Qualifications 2+ years of commercial/industrial operations and maintenance experience on solar power plants (preferred). Experience with preventative maintenance of Solar Utility equipment (preferred). Strong mechanical and electrical background with troubleshooting and installation skills. Specific solar equipment experience with inverters, tracker systems, or sub‑station equipment (e.g., TMEIC, SMA, Sungrow, Nextracker, ATI). Initiative to elevate site issues. Ability to train, mentor, and develop laborers into apprentices. High aptitude and strong work ethic. Valid driver’s license with no active suspension. Must live within approximately 50 miles of Huntsville, Alabama. Be prepared for work in outdoor ambient temperatures and to lift equipment up to 50 pounds. Availability to work weekends, holidays, and on‑call service via phone or text. Travel up to 25% of the time may be required. Compensation Hourly rate: $30.00–$42.00 (DOE). Base pay range: $30–$42 USD. Compensation is influenced by skill level, experience, and location. In addition to wages, employees may be eligible for performance and referral bonuses, production incentives, tool/equipment and fuel stipends, company vehicle, per diem, and other applicable compensation.
