Day Shift | Dermatology Grossing

A diagnostic laboratory located in West-Central Florida, approximately  one hour north of Tampa , is seeking an experienced  Histotechnologist (HTL)to join its laboratory team.

This is a permanent opportunity for a skilled histology professional with a  four-year degree in Histology and current  HTL(ASCP) certification . The ideal candidate must have prior  dermatology grossing experience and be comfortable performing grossing responsibilities.

• Perform routine histology procedures according to established laboratory protocols.
\n
• Perform  grossing of dermatology specimens using appropriate techniques and procedures.
\n
• Examine, describe, measure, and prepare tissue specimens for processing.
\n
• Process tissue specimens through fixation, dehydration, clearing, and paraffin embedding.
\n
• Perform microtomy and prepare high-quality slides for microscopic evaluation.
\n
• Perform routine and special staining procedures as required.
\n
• Assist with immunohistochemistry and other specialized histology techniques as applicable.
\n
• Maintain accurate specimen identification and tracking throughout the laboratory process.
\n
• Review slides and specimens for technical quality and correct issues as necessary.
\n
• Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot histology equipment.
\n
• Perform quality control procedures and document corrective actions.
\n
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
\n
• Monitor laboratory supplies and reagents.
\n
• Follow laboratory safety, regulatory, quality assurance, and infection control procedures.
\n
• Collaborate with pathologists and other laboratory professionals.
\n
• Participate in laboratory quality improvement initiatives.
\n
• Perform additional histology responsibilities as assigned.
\n

• Four-year degree in Histology required.
\n
• HTL(ASCP) certification required.
\n
• Prior dermatology grossing experience required.
\n
• Demonstrated ability to independently perform dermatology grossing responsibilities.
\n
• Strong knowledge of histology techniques, specimen processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining.
\n
• Experience working with dermatopathology specimens strongly preferred.
\n
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to specimen quality.
\n
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
\n
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced diagnostic laboratory environment.
\n
• Strong troubleshooting and critical-thinking skills.
\n
• Commitment to laboratory safety, regulatory compliance, and quality.
\n
