School RN: Student Health Champion & Care Coordinator

Qualifications Current and unrestricted RN license Experience working in a school or pediatric setting highly desirable Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills Ability to respond calmly and effectively to medical emergencies Familiarity with IEPs, 504 plans, and care coordination with multidisciplinary teams Capable of maintaining thorough healthcare records in accordance with privacy regulations CPR/BLS certification required Key Responsibilities Assess and address student health concerns, injuries, or illnesses during school hours Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders Collaborate with educators, counselors, and parents to support each student’s health plans Provide first aid and emergency care as needed Educate students and staff on the importance of healthy habits and disease prevention Maintain detailed and confidential health records for all students Participate in IEP/504 meetings and support the development of individualized healthcare plans Ensure a safe and clean environment within the nurse’s office and throughout the school Working as a contract school RN in this vibrant community allows you to have a meaningful impact, with the bonus of varied daily experiences and professional collaboration.
