Description:
Unit has 31 beds, including private and semi-private rooms.
Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 4.
Electronic medical record system used is Cerner.
Shift Manager and a Resource Nurse serve as Charge Nurses.
Nurse aides are available, with 2 on days and 1 on nights.
Weekend requirement consists of 4 shifts within a 4-week schedule.
Weekend shifts for days are Saturday and Sunday.
Travelers are expected to work into the permanent staff holiday rotation, including 1 major and 1 minor holiday.
Scrub color for staff is navy blue, including jackets and undershirts.
Telemonitoring equipment used is Philips.
Ventilation support includes CPAP and BiPAP as needed.
Clientist or Intensivist is available in-house, and on-call after hours.
Respiratory Therapy is available 24/7.
Pharmacy is operational 24/7 with Omnicell system.
Shifts run from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
Block scheduling may be permitted if unit needs are met, but is not guaranteed.
Travelers are the first to float to other units as necessary.
Possible floating to MedSurg and ICU for telemetry hold patients.
Orientation to the floor consists of 1-2 shifts with a preceptor.
Common diagnoses include post-pacemaker, hemodialysis, new onset AFib, and RVR.
Patients may include those stepping down from ICU, surgical cases, urology patients, and oncology patients with cardiac issues.
There may be rare orthopedic patients and some correctional cases.
Common conditions include strokes, TBI, and sepsis.
Client has a cancellation policy allowing for cancellations of shifts within the assignment duration.
