Staff Accountant

We are recruiting a Staff Accountant for a nonprofit organization to help support daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance activities. This role offers broad exposure to fund management, cash activity, month-end close, and financial reporting while working closely with finance leadership. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and enjoys contributing to an organization focused on making a meaningful community impact. Key Responsibilities Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and timely completion. Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation for recurring and non-routine accounting activities. Assist with the administration and accounting of designated program funds, grants, scholarships, or other restricted resources. Monitor fund activity and prepare reports to support internal stakeholders and external partners. Record and reconcile cash receipts, deposits, and banking transactions while maintaining accurate accounting records. Support corporate card administration, expense review processes, and payment-related reconciliations. Prepare account reconciliations and assist with monthly and annual close activities. Partner with auditors and external advisors by providing schedules, documentation, and supporting analyses. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen controls, and enhance reporting efficiency. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline. 2+ years of accounting experience, including exposure to general ledger activities, reconciliations, nonprofit accounting or other related environments Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
