Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Operating Room RN provides specialized perioperative nursing care for surgical patients, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency throughout all phases of surgery. They assess patient conditions, support surgical procedures, and collaborate with the healthcare team to promote optimal outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive preoperative assessments to evaluate patient readiness for surgery.
• Demonstrate proficiency in sterile techniques, surgical procedures, and emergency equipment management.
• Maintain accurate, complete documentation of patient care, including assessments, interventions, and education.
• Adhere to safety protocols such as Universal Protocol and patient identification procedures to ensure patient safety.
• Educate patients and families about surgical procedures, pre-op preparations, and postoperative care.
• Collaborate with the perioperative team to prioritize and coordinate patient care based on individual needs and intraoperative changes.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active RN license and a minimum of 1 year experience in perioperative nursing.
• Demonstrate assessment skills and knowledge of surgical procedures, equipment, and anesthesia types.
• Show proficiency in documentation and compliance with healthcare policies and HIPAA regulations.
• Possess BLS certification; CNOR credential preferred.
• Graduate from an accredited nursing program, with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
