Project Manager

Location: Huntington, WV

Summary

The Project Manager - Industrial Projects plans, coordinates, and leads industrial construction projects from award through final close-out in a safe, timely, cost-effective, and quality-focused manner. This role is responsible for project planning, scheduling, field coordination, customer communication, risk management, documentation, and successful execution in industrial environments such as manufacturing, processing, heavy commercial, and plant-based facilities. The Project Manager may manage multiple projects at a time depending on project size, complexity, customer requirements, schedule demands, and geographic location. Regular travel to jobsites and customer facilities is required.

Responsibilities

• Support, implement, and lead all aspects of the Safety Program, focusing on industrial jobsite hazards, site access requirements, customer safety rules, and pre-task planning.
• Work with Safety to develop and maintain the Site-Specific Safety Program, including reviewing project specifications, customer requirements, pre-construction safety expectations, and job hazard considerations.
• Plan and manage industrial construction projects from award through close-out, including scope review, schedule development, client planning, procurement coordination, field execution, documentation, and customer communication.
• Create and maintain project schedules, look-ahead schedules, and critical path priorities, coordinating around outages, shutdowns, plant operations, production schedules, and customer-driven milestones.
• Coordinate field crews, foremen, foremen in training, leadmen, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and customer representatives to ensure work progresses safely and efficiently.
• Review drawings, specifications, submittals, job instructions, customer standards, and contract documents to understand scope, constructability, sequencing, quality expectations, and potential risks.
• Proactively identify, manage, prevent, and communicate delays, emergencies, changed conditions, access constraints, material issues, safety concerns, and other problems that may arise on industrial jobsites.
• Partner with customers and internal leaders to maintain strong relationships, set clear expectations, and deliver excellent service in active industrial environments.
• Meet contractual conditions of performance as outlined by the customer and Construction, including safety, quality, schedule, documentation, and close-out requirements.
• Review work progress regularly and prepare internal and external reports related to job status, schedule, cost, safety, quality, client, change orders, and project risks.
• Manage project costs, labor productivity, materials, equipment, tools, rentals, change orders, and job documentation to support successful financial performance.
• Select, coordinate, and track tools, materials, equipment, rentals, and inventory needed for industrial project execution.
• Obtain or coordinate required permits, licenses, site access approvals, customer orientations, and job-specific documentation as required by the project.
• Ensure work is performed in accordance with quality requirements, customer specifications, applicable codes, approved drawings, and industry standards.
• Coach and develop project foremen, foremen in training, and leadmen by setting expectations, providing feedback, supporting planning, and reinforcing safe, quality work practices.
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying lessons learned, implementing best practices, and improving communication, planning, safety, quality, and field execution.
• Support the Core Values and represent the company professionally with customers, field teams, vendors, subcontractors, and the public.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; additional technical training, construction management coursework, or related education is helpful.
• Three (3) or more years of related industrial project management experience.
• Proven working experience managing construction projects in industrial, manufacturing, plant, heavy commercial, structural steel, concrete, mechanical, or related field environments.
• Strong understanding of construction means and methods, sequencing, drawings/specifications, quality requirements, safety expectations, and jobsite coordination.
• Ability to plan work, see the big picture, prioritize competing demands, and manage multiple projects, customers, crews, and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong communication, organization, documentation, follow-up, and time management skills.
• Ability to work effectively with customers, field crews, foremen, subcontractors, vendors, safety, accounting, estimating, production leadership, and other internal teams.
• Familiarity with construction management software, scheduling tools, job costing, daily reporting, and project documentation processes.
• Competence in conflict management, crisis management, problem-solving, and decision-making under schedule, safety, and customer pressure.
• Leadership skills with the ability to coach, direct, support, and hold teams accountable in a professional and respectful manner.
• Must be self-motivated, customer-focused, dependable, and able to work as part of a goal-oriented team.
• PMP certification preferred but not required; commensurate experience will be considered.
• Must be able to travel regularly to industrial jobsites and customer facilities based on business needs.
