We are currently seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join a busy healthcare team in Lewiston, Maine. This temp-to-hire opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with patients while supporting providers and clinical staff in delivering high-quality care.

As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in both clinical and administrative functions, helping ensure patients receive outstanding care in a professional and supportive environment.

• Assess patients' general condition, including taking vital signs and weight.
• Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
• Provide basic patient care as directed by providers.
• Accurately document patient interactions, treatments, medications, and responses in the medical record.
• Promote patient wellness through education materials, physician guidance, and follow-up instructions.
• Adhere to infection control standards, safety regulations, and patient confidentiality policies.
• Assist with prior authorizations for diagnostic procedures.
• Support clerical functions, including medical records management, EMR document indexing, filing, and secretarial duties as needed.
• Provide coverage and assistance in additional administrative areas when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of infection control, patient confidentiality, and environmental safety procedures.
• Experience with medical records, chart documentation, and electronic health records (EHR/EMR).
• Strong health information management and patient documentation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, clinical staff, and administrative team members.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and coworkers.
• Ability to adapt quickly and effectively to changing priorities and workloads.
