Speech Language Pathologist

Diagnoses, evaluates, treats, counsels patients with a wide variety of communication disorders and swallowing disorders. 1. Evaluates patient's communication or swallowing function within the scope and standards of practice, keeping service excellence as a main priority.
2. Establishes and conducts a treatment program and keeps timely documentation that is in line with departmental, hospital and regulatory standards.
3. Communicates evaluation results and progress in therapy.
4. Participates in departmental and hospital performance improvement activities.

EDUCATION

Master's degree in speech-language pathology.

EXPERIENCE

One (1) to two (2) years as a clinical speech language pathologist in a large medical center based practice preferred . Experience working with children and/or adults depending on the assigned setting. Clinical experience with a variety of diagnoses to include post-surgical, developmental, neurological, genetic, oncologic and traumatic.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Certificate of Clinical Competence in speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech, Language, Hearing Association (includes nine months of supervised internship and a qualifying national examination); CT license; continuing educational units; computer literacy; excellent communication (aural/oral/writing) skills.

PHYSICAL DEMAND
