Now Hiring: Key Whitman Eye Center - Plano, TX 3060 Communications Parkway, Plano, TX JOB TITLE: Diagnostic Technician POSITION SUMMARY: The role of the Diagnostic Technician is to work relatively close with the clinic physicians to perform basic, advanced, and complex testing. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform the necessary diagnostic testing of the eye while having a basic understanding and knowledge of these tests such as OCT macula, OCT optic nerves, Lenstar, ORB scan, Optos Fundus photos, EPIC (OPD and glare), IMMERSION and HVF, any other related tests as needed. Assist with answering calls and emails: triage, RX refills, questions regarding patient chart/plan, etc. Become familiar with basic conditions and diseases of the eye. Maintain and sterilize room and equipment, properly turning on and off all equipment. Assist Technicians and Scribes as needed. Administer topical ophthalmic medication and understanding basic ocular pharmacology; names of meds and their uses. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES): Minimum 1 year experience in Ophthalmic field preferred. High School Diploma or GED. Some college coursework or Associate's degree preferred. JCAHPO certification preferred. CPR preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to think quickly and be attentive. Ability to work in a fast paced, team environment. Communicate effectively with patients, physicians and staff members. Demonstrate commitment to ongoing education and uphold the highest ethical principles of maintaining confidentiality. Proficient in EMR and computer literacy. Well organized and attentive to detail.
