Job Title: Chemistry Lab Technician - 2nd Shift
Job Description
This role supports a high-volume contract testing laboratory by managing sample registration, organization, and logistical support for multiple chemistry labs. The Chemistry Lab Technician works primarily on 2nd shift, ensuring that samples, reagents, and supplies are accurately registered, labeled, delivered, and maintained so that testing teams can operate efficiently and in compliance with laboratory standards.
Responsibilities
This position is based in a contract testing laboratory that primarily serves the milk and dairy industry. The role supports the Chemistry Department, which includes three main laboratories, and focuses on organizational and logistical activities rather than direct testing. The standard schedule is a 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, typically from 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with an 8.5-hour regular shift and potential opportunities for overtime during the week and on weekends. The work involves frequent movement, handling of samples and supplies, and adherence to laboratory safety practices, including safe use and storage of equipment and chemicals. The organization offers a clear advancement path within the lab technician structure, with multiple technician levels and opportunities for increased responsibility and compensation over time. Employees receive paid holidays and two floating paid time off days available from day one. The culture emphasizes teamwork, communication around testing deadlines, continuous improvement through 5S practices, and maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.
