Maintenance Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:

To inspect, repair, adjust, calibrate and maintain all electrical and mechanical equipment in plant. Performs preventive maintenance as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Inspects mill equipment at the time of malfunction, determines when immediate shut down of equipment is necessary to minimize damage. Determine cause of malfunction and determine best way of making repair. Make repairs as necessary. Adjusts equipment. Completes reports as required. Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work environment. All other duties as assigned. Follows all safety rules and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to communicate in English. Ability to use basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplying, dividing, counting and the use of tape measure. Ability to read and understand all safety operating procedures and to use all safety features and equipment. Preferred Qualifications

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must possess valid, current forklift certification. Ability to read blueprints. Ability to use the required personal protective equipment at all times. Moderate computer skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires ability to walk, stand, carry materials, stoop, kneel, bend and twist. Maximum unassisted lift - 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud and requires hearing protection.
